Christmas is upon us! I'm excited to spend some time with family and enjoy some Christmas time off for celebration and reflection. I sure hope any of you reading this do the same. During this time off, I will play some radio, as always, because that's what we all do, right? Let's see; list of stuff completed this week:
Status page is working to help me monitor what is on and off. If you want to watch also or are curious, it is HERE.
I replaced the radio and sound card for the VARA system in Brentwood. It is online and transmitting but still not hearing as good as it can due to an antenna issue. I have an antenna I'll bring down and slap up to see if we can get some more improvement.
Soundcard replaced for Fort VARA. Working again.
Tweaked a few settings on my GMRS Repeater audio streamers to try and increase availability. I will stream the Winslow one once in a while, but it tends to be a little more data hungry than my limited resource at that site can provide, so I will stream as needed until I figure out a better internet solution there.
All the hammy repeaters are running well now that they've been moved to ASL3 and I have complete remote visibility at all times to them with that improvement. Very happy.
Nodes and repeaters are welcome to link in and out. Echolink is functioning well as an input also. I haven't configured much as to using Echolink to steer the repeaters yet, but might do so.
Mountain Home ham repeater has an autopatch now to make phone calls. I put basic instructions on that page on how to use it. I may add autopatch to Winslow since phone service out there is spotty in places. We shall see. It's not a commonly used service and, quite frankly with with ubiquity of cell phones, may never get used. But, since it's something to do, I did it. It's there. Whatever works.
I appreciate the support and use of the systems I have. Thank you.
It's fun, ham radio is fun, and all is well. Merry Christmas to all of you and I hope you have a great holiday!
